As a freelance artist or designer, its crucial to know how to take on commissions in the best way you can. Working on your fees for a client can be a tricky matter. And the best way to increase sales is not to actively sell, don't turn people off. Grow your audience organically and as long as there's a clear link somewhere to your work, sales will follow. Help your followers spread awareness for you by giving them what they want: 'visual eye candy' and engaging conversation. But do make sure those people who want to buy your work can clearly see how to do so.

Know how to calculate a fee

Its not always easy, even for the most professional creatives, industry standards are very important. Some theory that adjusting your fee based on how long you think it will take to complete an image will come with additional costs including high-cost materials that factor in and mass-production is potentially at stake. But you also have to look at the client you're doing the work for, where the client/company currently sit financially and how big your project will make their business/company in the long run. Small local projects for like a music band won't have the same sort of revenue as the likes of Apple, who will have a very high economic status. So you have to be aware of this.
