Phil is a creative communications specialist who work within the graphic design industry and especially with internal communications and so, set by the the college we was given a corporate identity brief whereby we would design and create a corporate identity, with consideration of branding and the need to communicate the essential messages.

As a group we set the tasks of creating an internal communications magazine for VANS.

We all made a double page spread each inside of a magazine, the front and back designs were created by one person and I feel we could’ve all made an input to the front and back covers e.g. with our own designs and put them together so we all have an input, but it was a group decision to do so. Also, the website was a similar choice in design where it was between two people on the design and layout and which one was best.

Overall, I feel I wanted to contribute more to the magazine in terms of creating more pages as some people created more pages than others but with the time scale we had it was difficult to pull it out the bag. I would’ve created a save the planet campaign or gone with one of my initial ideas of a ‘Vans’ skatepark if we still had time to do so, which I now feel was a really good idea and if was to do this project again I would happily make sure I had the time to create and put this idea out there.

The group worked really well, although at times it was difficult due to circumstances but I really enjoyed this project, everyone had great ideas and outcomes and I would look forward to working inn different groups again to see how it goes. Working with different people was interesting and made me work better than on my own, everyone’s input was very useful and creative.
