The creative industry is well-known for being very competitive and getting your first job can be a bit of a rollercoaster. The main principle is to show off your talent and amplify the message that hiring you would benefit the agency.
Tip 1 - Smarten up your portfolio
Make sure your 'design' resume is up to scratch. Nothing looks better than a well designed, organised, professional and up to date bit of design. While bringing printed work or a physical portfolio is great for an interview. In the design industry especially in this generation, online portfolios and digital artwork is highly recommended if not essential in the design community.
Make sure to create and include in your websites all of the important and relevant social media, content page that work with your creative field. This can include such applications as Instagram, behance, pinterest, LinkedIn and The Dots; a new network platform created in 2014 used for creatives to show off in their respected fields and work in similar basis to LinkedIn to getting you that dream job!
Creating these will expand your network, make real connections across the world which you wouldn't realistically make face-to-face without the internet. And it is another way to show off your best work. Bad or partially finished content will just make your work look amateur, so clear out any useless works-in-progress that don't show you in a great light.
